We're always in between... we never move forward... we're stuck in the middle.
This is because of you! You're such a retard! I don't understand you! I have to admit that even I am confused about myself. But if only you we're a bit clearer, we wouldn't be in this mess! Ugh!! We're so messed up!

"Mirai, sit with me during our fieldtrip."

I was surprised when you suddenly said that. I just agreed. I don't really mind.

Only after that did I remembered I already agreed to sit with Suzuka.

Saaya even got mad at me saying I left Suzuka hanging. In the end, Suzuka said she was fine with it since she would be sitting with Yuto, instead (cause Ryo-chan also left Yuto hanging).

Umika and the others started teasing us again because we were sitting by each other (and it was a 12 hours trip.)

I said so many times that it doesn't mean anything but they wouldn't believe me. What is it they see that they are more sure about whatever the hell there is between me in Ryosuke than I am?! What the heck?!

Ryosuke went to our room in the resort we were staying at and asked if I have water. And there goes Umika again with that look. She really reads too much shoujo manga.

"I can't really help reading between the lines, can I? Their room is on the other side of this resort and he goes here only to ask for water? Didn't they have any drinks there? There so many of them sharing one room —Chii, Nakajima-kun, Irie-kun, Ogawa-kun —none of them have drinks?"

I just ignore Umika whenever she starts reasoning. I don't want to make assumptions; that would be complicated.

But I really couldn't blame her when she gave me that look again when we went to their room (so Umika can visit her Chii). Ryosuke has a 1L bottle of water, and the seal hasn't even been ripped off.

I was surprised when I saw new candid pictures of Ryosuke and me on LJ. Saaya was the one who took them.
This is all Ryosuke’s fault. He’s so rowdy. He always targets my hands! He squeezes it, pinch it, slap it, massage it, and just generally play with my hand. What does he think of my hands? Toys?!
And there goes our classmates again with their teasing. Suzuka said she teases us because Ryosuke treats me and only me like that. Well, he’s like that, what can I do?

Rima noticed I was wearing Ryosuke’s jacket and do I have to say what happened next? Of course, another session of their ribbing. And Ryosuke doesn’t do anything. He neither confirms it nor denies anything. He even laughs with them! He just let them tease us. Now all of them think there really is something between us. Ugh!! I really don’t know what runs inside that thick skull of his!

Our friends have asked us so many times about what our status is. We always give the same answer:

“Nothing, we’re just friends. Best friends.”

He’s the one who claimed that we’re best friends. Even I was surprised when I heard him say that. The last I know, his best friend was Yuto and Daiki, and my best friend was Suzuka. But since that’s what he said, I’ll just ride along... That’s what I always do. Maybe that’s the reason we aren’t going anywhere. But you can’t put all the blame on me!

Sometimes he acts as if he’s just one of my guy friends (and Saaya would say, “there really are boys and girls who are friends but you guys are too close it’s not normal.”)
Sometimes he acts as if he’s my dad, (and Umika would say, “Acts like an overprotective boyfriend, you mean.”)

Sometimes he acts all high and mighty (and Suzuka would say, “Mirai-chan, he just wants to get your attention.”)

I don’t know what I should think. I am not dense, I know some of the things he does exceeds the boundary of being ‘just friends’ but I can’t really be sure cause I don’t know if Ryosuke is really just like that. What if that’s just how he interacts with his female friends? (Umika: “Why, aren’t we his friends?”)
And I don’t understand what I feel. I don’t know if I’m just being swayed by what my friends are saying so I feel like I like him. I don’t know if I’m just influenced by what our classmates say that I think that what he does have meanings.

I don’t know if we’re ‘just friends’ or we’ve gone over to ‘more than friends.’

I don’t know what he thinks of me: friend? Best friend? Girlfriend? Or maybe his PA?

I don’t know what I am to him and I don’t know what he is to me. (Saaya: “You’ve already gone beyond being ‘best friends.’”)

I don’t know if you were jealous when Kanata-kun mailed me so you snitch on me. I don’t know if I was jealous when I saw Mariya wearing your jacket or if I just wasn’t in a good mood that day because Umika and I fought.

But it seems you don’t plan to make things clear, so should we just let this go on?

You’re such a cheat! What the hell is happening to us??

What is this? Another bet?! The first one to fall will treat the other to strawberry cake or iced coffee?!?! If that’s so, let’s go to the cafeteria! Strawberry shortcake is discounted there! Geez, Ryo-chan, you always make me treat you!
